For Folk's Sake

OK, now this isn't about my artwork, it's about something i need to get off my chest.

Folk music.

What is the fucking deal with folk music? I know everyone has their own opinions and blah blah blah, but what is with the arrogant, holier than thou attitude that the majority of folk music fans/musicians (because lets face it, every folk fan thinks they are a musician) seem to have? It seems like because they don't need electricity to play their music they are better than everyone else or that their particular genre is more mature than any other. I haven't encountered such musical snobbery (outside of the metal community) in all my life!

Folk people just have this unmistakable air of arrogance around them, they out on this front of being all peaceful and at one with everything and they love everyone, it's bullshit. I'm totally tarring folk fans with the same brush but honestly, 99% of all folk music fans i've met have rubbed me up the wrong way. One of the things that drives me mad the most about them is when they engage you in a discussion about music. No matter what you say they will wrinkle their nose at you, now i am a metal fan but to be honest, i wouldn't say i'm a metal guy, in fact i think i've probably got the broadest taste in music imaginable and no matter what i have said to one of them, they always say something along the lines of "Oh i just don't understand how people like that" or "thats not REAL music though is it?". Just get over yourselves.

Not every genre of music needs to be about fairy's or people making thatched cottages or old uncle ryley making elderberry wine in a stone bucket. I'm not even going to get started on the political branch of folk.

Grrr... i'd better stop there before i start making even less sense or write even more stupid remarks. Back to art tomorrow, i promise.
